Criteria
The Theodore S. Jones Service Award is to be awarded to an Active OACP Member Police Chief in Ohio who:

  1. has provided extraordinary service to the mission and goals of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police,
  2. exemplifies personal integrity and professional values and ethics espoused by the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and contained within the OACP Code of Ethics; and
  3. exemplifies the highest standards of leadership, organizational courage, and vision in impacting the profession of Office of Chief of Police.

Criteria
Award is to be presented to an OACP Retired Police Chief who: has served as an OACP Active Member Police Chief for a minimum of five (5) years: is currently an active (status) Life Member of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and is no longer holding a Chief’s position. This award is to recognize the significant contributions of his/her time and talents dedicated to promoting and ensuring the success of OACP’s programs and services and the law enforcement profession.

Ron & Rita Jornd Chiefs’ Children’s Scholarship

Note: The applicant must be a child of an OACP (ACTIVE STATUS MEMBER) Police Chief.

The Ron and Rita Jornd Chiefs’ Children’s Scholarship is in memory of Chief Ronald W. Jornd and in recognition of his wife, Rita Jornd for their dedicated service to the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and the law enforcement community. OACP will select up to three applicants to receive the annual scholarship award. The award will be $500. The recipient must be accepted to or attending an accredited college, university, technical or trade school. The award will be paid to the recipient upon receipt of confirmation of enrollment to offset tuition or other expenses. The award is for one year. All applicants may re-apply for consideration each additional year as long as criteria is met.
